My students need Lego Build to Express kits to process their content learning in multiple ways. Students will be able to move more easily from the concrete to the abstract by creating symbolic models.

My Students

My students are a hard-working bunch of kids that want to be successful in school. Many of them are veracious readers and writers, while others need a little more encouragement. Learning in a more tactile way is a major need for quite a few of my students. They all want to do good work and are excited about school. Our students have daily access to Chromebooks this year, but many still need other innovative learning tools to meet their individual needs.

My Project

Through the use of the Lego Build to Express kits, my students will be able to process their learning in very powerful ways. They will be able to build concrete representations to reflect their content learning. Students will also be able to communicate symbolic understanding through the use of the kits. Students can model scenes from books and vocabulary in social studies, think through their writing, or build the theme for a text. These kits allow my non-verbal students to demonstrate a command of the material in a hand-on manner that is better suited to their way of learning material.
