We live in a small town and our school houses about 250 amazing students. My classroom of 15 bright students is one of the kindest groups I have ever taught. I love and each every member of our class family; their energy, kindness, and attitude towards learning make every day...an awesome day.
We are a high need school with 100% of our student population receiving free breakfast, lunch, and snack.
A majority of my students live in poverty and school is their safe environment. Through grants, my classroom has been funded to be a "kids fit" room where my desks and furniture are bicycles. I have students whose lives have already been changed from the ability to move throughout the day. In our K-4 school, our classroom is the only one who gets this amazing opportunity. My students work so hard through the day and showing a small amount of appreciation will impact their futures greatly.
My Project
My fourth graders are working so hard to learn to enjoy books and novels! This year my students have devoured graphic novels in my classroom. They have begun to build a love of reading through these books. Many of my students have already read most, if not all, of the graphic novels that I own.
My fourth graders need more engaging reading material in our classroom.
This group of students loves the new children's graphic novels such as Dog Man and Captain Underpants, but they would greatly benefit from having other options. My students would love to have new books in our classroom. Please help us create a classroom library for everyone to love!
