Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade teacher. Our school home to some of the most culturally diverse, sweet, and fun loving students. Most of our students are either Hispanic or Marshallese and 83% of students at my school are English Language Learners.
A lot of my students face great challenges every day, but you could never tell by looking at them.
93% of my students receive free and reduced lunch and many are given snack packs to take home over the weekend to ensure they have food to eat. Despite daily struggles at home, my students come to school anxious to learn, ready to make new friends, and experience life to the fullest.
At school, my students have opportunities that they may never get otherwise. They get to experience new activities and go to places that they might not ever get to go to. I have make it my first priority every day to let my students know that they are loved by me, they are safe, and they are beyond capable of achieving their dreams.
My Project
My students are energetic 2nd graders that are always eager to learn. My students come from hard working families with multiple siblings who aren't always able to afford extras. Therefore, we need help from our community and "village" to help purchase these items for our students. Our students deserve it!
My Project
Have you ever tried to sit in a chair all day without being able to move? It is hard for a student to sit still all day. My students LOVE to move and we take multiple brain breaks everyday but I have noticed that this is just not enough. This project will help students of all learning styles be able to grasp content that will follow them for the rest of their lives as they grow. These wobble chairs and bouncy bands will add a little BOUNCE, WIGGLE and WOBBLE to my classroom. They will also allow my students to have access to non-traditional forms of seating which is important for the various learning styles. It assists them in be able to choose what works best for them based on their learning style. You will be not only be donating to help improve focus and attention but to help increase overall student achievement. These chairs will not only help my current class but will continue to help improve student achievement for many years. So let's get ready to WOBBLE!
