This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our classroom is more than 4 walls. It is a place where children come to learn, explore, create friendships, and become part of a community that goes beyond the school building. My students are encouraged to explore their interests, individually and collectively on a daily basis. Each child brings a uniqueness to the class, whether it is his or her ability level or learning style.
As an educator in an urban district that faces a multitude of financial challenges, providing a comfortable space to work is a necessity.
This becomes an issue when creating a classroom that is aesthetically appealing and a comfortable learning environment. My students are eager to learn and extremely bright. However, with the limitations of a traditional classroom, the students feel stifled when expressing individuality as to how they learn best.
My Project
Through "Let’s Be Flexible!" students will have more than one seating option. For the student who gets tired of sitting, he or she will be able to stand and work using the AIRLIFT Pneumatic Laptop Computer Mobile Desk Cart without disturbing the other students. Another option for students who fidget or lean back in the chair will be to use a Wobble Chair, or to add a Flex Space Wobble Cushion to their seat. Students can also use the Flex Space Wobble Cushion while sitting on the floor using a lap desk to work.
By adding the ability to choose seating options, my students will be able to embrace their learning differences as well as how and where they prefer to work.
