Help me give my students flexible seating! Our classroom has various needs, disabilities and learning styles. Flexible seating will help keep them engaged and focused.
My classroom is made up of 20-25 students ages 4-6 years of age. They are from various economical backgrounds and ethnic backgrounds. My classroom also consists of a diverse group of students with a wide array of needs ranging from autism, ADHD, Downs Syndrome and other developmental delays. I love working with this age range because it is amazing to see how far they come from the beginning of the year to the end. They are an amazing age group!
My Project
Flexible seating would be an amazing resource for my classroom. It allows the students to learn in an environment that has seating that is conducive to their personal learning style. They are able to try different seating choices in order to find the best fit for them. It also allows them to be more actively engaged and helps get their wiggles out! Our classroom also has many children with various disabilities and flexible seating will give them the chance to actively participate more in the general education classroom instead of having to be self contained in the special education room. Some of the flexible seating I am looking to purchase are yoga ball chairs, bean bag chairs, recliner chairs, padded stools and saucer chairs. The yoga ball chairs are great for students who need to move around while learning. Stools are great for those students that either want to stand or sit during a lesson and the saucer chairs and bean bag chairs offer extra support for those students with disabilities that have problems sitting on the floor during circle time. I am excited about the possibilities this seating will open up for our classroom.
