In my third grade classroom, I welcome close to 40 students who are true individuals. We are a Title I school where 80% of our PreK-3rd grade students are on free or reduced lunches. Being a Title I school, I have every kind of learner in my room. I have children who are ADHD, dyslexic, and have processing problems. I also have students who would be considered "gifted."
In this classroom, we are readers and writers, no matter what subject is being taught.
Good readers and writers share what they are reading and writing. Good readers and writers should be able to have an atmosphere that is relaxing, encouraging and stimulating to creativity. I want my classroom to be one that encourages those elements as well as encourages students to be able to get into groups or with partners easily to be able to share and learn from one another.
My Project
My students are 100% kids. They like to wiggle, spread out on the floor, and work in groups in our classroom. This project will help them with all of these areas so they can focus on giving their work their very best.
The exercise balls and WOBBLE Chairs will allow the students to move and get a few of their wiggles out during instruction time.
We have seen great success with these already, so the tools will allow more students to have access to them. We work in groups a lot in our room. These WOBBLE Chairs and balls are easy to pick up and move to any area of the classroom so they can meet in groups. I have several students who like to work on the floor. The floor desks will give them the chance to enjoy sitting on the floor but have a stable place to do their work.
In my classroom, I want my students to feel at home, feel safe, and feel comfortable. These tools will give them the chance to feel this way and produce work of which they can be proud.
