This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Each day I am greeted with a handshake and a smile by my students. My students are the believers regardless of the circumstances they are faced with outside of the classroom, they show up. On a daily basis, they give 100 percent. The school that I am employed in a Title 1 school.
One hundred percent of our student eat free lunch and breakfast.
Over 10 percent of the students are Hispanic and 85 percent are African American. The majority of my students are struggling readers and have limited math skills. My students need kinetic activity to help them focus.
My Project
Students will apply fundamental principles of the engineering design process to help our community survive and thrive through severe weather. The students will design, test solar technology. Students will gain knowledge about renewable energy and sustainability. The students will research ways to maximize the use of solar power to aid in this cause. Students will learn about voltage, amperage and current. They will also learn skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and soldering. The goal of this project is to make available and affordable solar power to our community and helping our student learn about renewable energy sources. The project will be give students the opportunity to give back to their community.
