My class is full of some amazing kids! They are very kind and caring students. They overcome daily challenges and simply blow me away with how much they accomplish. Many of my students are on the Autism spectrum. My students have the biggest hearts and I look forward to seeing them every single day!
Several of my students with Autism are non-verbal and have a difficult time communicating with others.
In my classroom, we focus on socialization as well as academics. We encourage the students to apologize, forgive, respect, encourage, dream, laugh, and never give up!
My Project
In my classroom, we use many different forms of communication with our non-verbal students. We use picture cards, sign language, and communication devices. However many of these devices are more challenging to use. Apple iPads are very easy for students on the Autism Spectrum to use. There are many different programs that we can use with an iPad to help the students communicate and learn academic lessons. We can even use apps to help students breath and calm themselves down as well as communicate with each other. The possibilities are endless!

It would be beneficial for my non-verbal students to have a new iPad to use for communication in the classroom. When paired with a good case, iPads are easy and safe to carry around making them a highly desirable classroom tool!
