My students need flexible seating in the classroom, and sensory fidgets to keep their concentration! The different seating options will include options for their desk and floor seating!
This is my first year teaching special education in a public school. When meeting with the other special education teacher she explained that all of the students are so loving and caring. They are grades K-3rd and 9th-12th.
They are determined, unique, and sometimes a little crazy!
They will make you laugh and always put a smile on your face. They will benefit greatly from this project, and I know this will put a smile on their face! They will bring me so much joy, I want to be able to help them in any way I can, while still making the classroom functional!
My Project
These objects will make a huge difference in my students learning. They will be able to wiggle and jiggle while still focusing on the materials being presented at their desks. The yoga balls, wobble seats, and blow up chairs will allow them to either complete their work at their desk or to move around the room with a clipboard to complete their work in a different space. There are also elastic bands that could go around the legs of their desks for the students who like to tap their feet! With all of these additions to the classroom, each student would have the ability to choose seating arrangement fits them best!
All of these additions would make our classroom feel like home!
Somewhere where everyone is accepted, and feels like they are each apart of a special family.
Their will also be a safe space in the library to "calm down" or to relax during independent time! I would love to add the rugs and pillows to this area to make it feel more like a home environment. The more comfortable students are then the more they are willing to work.
