Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come to school each day hungry to learn. They strive for greatness and always give their best effort. I teach in an extremely low-income area of Detroit. My students are strong. They have overcome things in their life that no child should have to endure.

My students are products of their experiences.

They want to learn and grow. They love trying new things and always accept any challenge. My students work together to not only challenge each other but to help each other. We are a family.

My Project

Many students struggle with sitting in a traditional desk. When students are uncomfortable, they become distracted.

My goal is to allow my students to pick a seat daily so they are comfortable and stay focused.

The wobble seats can be used in chairs or on the floor. The rocker chairs will be set up at the front of the room. The bouncy bands will be connected to desks for students who prefer to sit at their desks. The lap desks will be used in a carpeted area to allow students to work together. The clip boards will make it easier to work while sitting on the floor.
