My Students

My students are first graders from an inner city school district with many different, sometimes challenging, learning needs. They all come from poverty or near poverty households. They all receive free breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner every day. They are all very excited about learning but have trouble with focusing, which in turn affects their learning. They are curious, fun, hilarious, and want to learn! I want them to be able to have all the materials they need to learn!

My Project

Because all of my students come from low income households, having the necessary materials they need to help them create and illustrate their work is not a part of their family budget. I, as their teacher have to supply all of the materials they need from day to day, including crayons and markers. We do not have many crayons or markers left from what I had purchased at the beginning of the year, which is making it very difficult to complete all of their learning tasks that need those materials. Having a fresh supply of these requested Crayola crayons and markers will give my students even more of an opportunity to be creative for the rest of the school year!
