My Students

I teach in a middle class neighborhood just north of downtown Denver. I have so many bright eyed, five and six year old kindergarteners who are so curious to learn new things.

Our class consists of twenty-three, kindergarten kids who are building relationships with their peers.

We have time everyday for the kids to do Purposeful Play. This is a time in the day where students are able to take some of the concepts and skills we have been studying and put them into real life situations.

My Project

Next fall, our school will be opening up it's first preschool classroom. I will be able to begin to teach kids to talk, share and grow with one another.

Each day the three to five year old students will have an opportunity to engage in Purposeful Play.

In order to make this play more meaningful, I am looking to have blocks for the students to build and play with tools that look like real bricks.

Having real looking blocks to build from will give the students a more realistic view on what they will be making with each other. It will give real meaning and let us have great conversations before, during and after they make their projects!
