Help me give my students the ability to produce good sound onstage during choreography. The Audio-Technica PRO 44 Cardioid Condenser Boundary Microphone will give them the ability to move without being tied to a cord or battery pack.
My students range from 9th to 12th grade, and most have had very little exposure to the performing arts. They come alive when we play improv games and apply what they are learning. I love the excitement in their eyes when we talk about possible field trips and upcoming plays.
The most exciting thing about these students is the confidence they gain from theatre.
One particularly shy student has undergone a transformation that amazes everyone. His parents have told me that theatre classes are what makes him want to come to school.
My Project
My theatre students will use these stage floor mics to empower them to project their voices all through the auditorium, and the wireless lavalier mics will give them mobility so they can leave the stage and perform from places in the audience or backstage if needed. Our last project, Willy Wonka, Jr., was difficult because we didn't have the microphones we needed. Our next project is Thornton Wilder's Our Town. Wilder's play has very little scenery and focuses on sound. Several of my students will be designing the sound and learning how to manipulate the sound system more fully. These microphones will enable my students to fully experience that sound in a more powerful way than is currently possible. Microphones will also level the playing field at our next competition with more fully funded schools. Our last two competitions were hampered by our lack of sound equipment, but these new microphones will give my students a fighting chance.
