Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My 4th grade students are exceptional education students and English learners in a Title I school located in a low income area. They work very hard in school despite the struggles surrounding them in life. A majority of my students come from single parent households without today's technology. Despite the obstacles my students and my parents have, they are determined to overcome them, and I am committed to help! What better way than introducing the world of technology; allowing everyone to learn!!

My Project

My students are currently technology deprived at home. I would love to give my students and parents the opportunity to work on research projects and explore learning new ideas and concepts that we are unable to learn during the school day due to time restraints.

The parents of my students often do not speak English, having access to technology I can communicate with my parents as well as my students.

Students would have the opportunity to bring home technology and work on research projects and school based apps such as Iready with their parents. Parents will be able to check their child's process right away on the tablet. I feel this will help students stay on track with school based programs we have and keep parents involved in their child's education.

With students taking home tablets, parents will have the ability to help their child succeed in education by using such apps as google translates to send me emails. Students who do not have internet at home can walk to the local library or McDonalds and use their internet.
