Our young children come to us from all walks of life most of them never being in an educational setting prior. It can be a really tough transition for a lot of them, especially since for most English is a second language. We want to be able to give our diverse group of learners the most immersive, educational and age appropriate experience. For children coming to school for the first time there are a lot of new skills that they have to acquire. Having materials that engage and encourage them to build and develop language and social skills are very important.
We want to be able to teach them how to explore, create and learn through tablet-free play.
Our goal is to provide every student with the best foundation for their future schooling.
My Project
Our students come from very diverse backgrounds. Like many children today tablets are the preferred method of play. Which is why when children come to school there can be difficulty understanding how to play with other children and use toys/games. We are looking to add some engaging materials to our science center that will teach them to explore, experiment, and learn with each other.
Providing materials that engage our students help them to improve their attention spans, encourage language skills, and help them develop critical social skills such as sharing.
