My students need lighting equipment for their Advanced Theatre Arts One Act assignment and performance.
This project expired on September 29, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
The students in my classroom are best described as exceptional. They exceed my expectations in everything I ask them to do. They are passionate about the dramatic arts, and they view theatre as more than a hobby, it is their safe place. My students love the acceptance they feel in drama club, and in return, they pay it forward by spreading that love and compassion to many students in our school.
My students view our drama club as their second family.
Our theatre productions provide a chance for the students to explore themselves and their values all while having fun. I find that the teens enjoy the collaborative environment that theatre provides, and they are always willing to add more "brothers" and "sisters" into their family. My school is in a low-socioeconomic area and this program provides a means of escape for these students.
Our current stage lighting system is outdated and running on its last leg. This portable lighting system will allow my students to be more creative in their lighting designs. This product also allows my students to design lights for our shows with colored gels, which increases their artistic freedom.
Theatre has been illuminating to my students' lives.
As they grow in the area of theatre, the need to challenge my students has increased. This equipment will open a gateway of learning for my students. They will learn how to program and position the lights to create a variety of effects for our theatre productions. This will primarily be used in our Advanced Theatre Arts class's One Act production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." I hope you take the time to help us with our lighting needs. Let us continue to illuminate our students' lives with the power of the fine arts.
