At our school, we serve an incredibly diverse student population.
In my room alone I have 12 languages and 19 countries represented!
This diversity gives our students the chance to interact with other children from many cultural backgrounds. We teach tolerance and understanding everyday.
My students come from a huge variety of housing situations everything from single family homes to shelters and everything in between. Their ability to persevere in the face of unique challenges, is nothing short of inspiring.
My Project
My classroom is equipped with intense fluorescent lighting that is as harsh as it is distracting. By providing ambient lighting to the classroom you will be helping to foster a love of reading that is not hampered by the harsh lighting. Studies show that soft ambient light reduces reading fatigue, especially in young readers. It will also serve to keep the class calm and on task. Some students have attention issues that are triggered by the bright fluorescent lighting that is currently in the classroom and have shown far by focus when they are put in environments that included soft lighting. Thanks so much for your amazing support of my classroom environment. These lamps will be used during reading, writing, and independent math time. The lamps included in this project produce a soft type of light that is extremely helpful to keep the classroom calm and focused. Students will benefit from this lighting in the following ways: 1.Improved focus. 2.A calmer learning environment. 3. Headache prevention for light-sensitive students. and 4. A more comfortable space that will facilitate a less oppressive feeling in the classroom.
