This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our preschool students are three, four, and five years old. They're hard working, active, and excited to learn new things. They like to play, sing songs, and listen to stories. More than half of my students are from low income households. Many of them are from single parent homes. Our school is a Title 1, public, inner-city school. One hundred percent of the students receive free or reduced price lunch. Our schools resources are very limited. However, I strive to provide a supportive learning environment that has enrichment materials to foster their growth and love for learning!
My Project
We have a light table in our classroom. However, it never gets turned on. For the last couple of years, the light bulbs have been burnt out. I have tried to replace the bulbs, but have only been met with disappointment. Our light table is a plain table. The other day, I was thinking how wonderful it would be if the light actually worked.
My students need a light table to enhance their learning experiences.
Having a light table will encourage imagination and collaboration while providing a unique sensory experience. I'm constantly looking for exciting and fun ways to build my students knowledge and I believe a light table will allow my students to see new opportunities.
