Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A three and 4-year-old preschool classroom is a great environment to be in. Our Head Start preschool room is full of smiling faces, who are excited about what's going to happen next. Our students love hands on activities that encourage them to be creative and think outside the box.
My classroom consists of 17 young, brilliant minds who are always ready to learn something new.
They're always asking how and why. They're so curious about how the different things around them work. They're so persistent, not giving up until they get the answer they're looking for.
My Project
I chose the light table for our classroom because it can cross over into so many different learning areas in the classroom. It goes beyond science and hits areas of math, writing and literacy.
A light table is a powerhouse of learning.
A light table is a versatile tool that can be used for everything from open ended play to learning concepts. We would infuse the light table center with opportunities for science, math, literacy, and writing.
The idea of a light table in our classroom has always been a dream of mine. Students need hands-on experience with exploring light and experimenting. I am requesting 1 light table and light table manipulatives. Having these materials will enhance their experiences by using technology and engineering which will allow them to see and manipulate the materials in ways which they would not be able to without a light table.
These materials will allow my students to be active participants in their own early learning of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) which could inspire them to work in one of those fascinating job fields in their adult lives.
Light tables are a fun, hands-on, education tool to have and we would be extremely lucky to get a light table for our classroom.
