My Students

My fourth-grade classroom is a diverse group of students eager to learn! Many of my students have the drive to take charge of their own learning, and my goal is to give them the means to do so!

My goal for my students and my class this year is to make learning fun, as well as accessible to all students, regardless of background.

Many of them come from low socioeconomic households, so parents aren't able to provide much for the classroom. I hope to implement a number of strategies and use resources that will help them grow from where they are, not where they should be. I am looking for resources that allow for hands-on application of their learning.

My Project

My goal with this project is to give my students a diverse classroom library to choose from that will allow them to choose books they are comfortable reading, and that they have an interest in.

Readers are created, not born.

A child will only take an interest in reading if they are able to find a plethora of books that appropriately match their abilities and that they are interested in what they are reading about. By providing my students with a diverse library, they will be given the opportunity to read books that They chose based off of their own interests. This autonomy will improve their overall literacy and further interests in reading.
