This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first graders are at a large Title I elementary school in Florida. The school is also a STEM Museum Magnet school. We work every day to help these students become excited about learning through hands-on innovating activities.
The first graders at school love to explore and it grows more and more as the year progresses.
They come in eager to learn and share their ideas and they always get excited about learning through exploration.
As a teacher in the school, I try to focus on pulling out the best in student learning and tailor their educational needs as best I can with the resources I have. I am always looking to improve the learning environment to meet the needs of all students who come into my classroom.
My Project
My students need a new book organizer that I can use to set up a take-home book station. We already use a classroom library system where students choose books they want to and enjoy reading. I want to give my students the opportunity to use the book organizer to find just right books they can take home and read with their families.
My students will love the ability to go to a special take-home library of books in the new organizer and use a brand new book pouch to take home books and show what they have learned to their parents.
I would love to use the new system to help them keep a reading log of all the books they can read both in school and at home during the school year.
