My Students

My students know that books tell stories, but sometimes they forget that they can learn new things from books!

Our school is an inner-city, charter school that is only 2-years-old.

The students come into our school at all levels even in kindergarten. Some are reading emergent texts and some have never heard of the alphabet. Having materials to meet the needs of every student's level is difficult.

My Project

Having non-fiction leveled readers in the room will allow my students to not only learn to read, but also learn about various subjects in social studies, science, and math at the same time. It will also help us connect our lessons to real world applications. And just having more books in the room helps everyone as our class size has increased this year.

My students do not have a lot of support and I want to do my best to make sure that they have the best start to their education.
