Welcome to our class. Our school district has 2,455 students with 10.8% receiving special education services. We are a small community where 74.5% of our district is economically disadvantaged. Your donation will reach 53 students from PK-3rd grade receiving speech and language services.
Many students at our primary school are working on improving their articulation, but we also help students with Autism and other developmental delays who may have expressive and receptive language disorders, voice disorders, fluency disorders, pragmatic disorders and more.
We have 9 harsh florescent lights shining down on our little learners. We are asking for mood enhancing light covers in tranquil blue and whisper white for our speech and language therapy room.
Fluorescent lighting can cause strain on the eyes, headaches, and anxiety for students.
Also, students who struggle with sensory processing can become distracted and overwhelmed by the bright fluorescent lights. Using light filters can ease eyestrain and create a more relaxed environment for students to learn in.
The fabric panels will fit over our ceiling fixtures with sturdy, sewn-in magnets. Each set includes four 2' x 4' heat-resistant panels, so our students will be safe as well.
