Let the STrEAM Come Alive!

My Students

The students at our school are a perfect representation of the city of Houston. Students come from all over the world, each with different life experiences which they are able to share.

About 10% of our school population consists of refugees from all over the world.

These students come to us with with limited English and limited experiences. The rest of our school population is a mixture between students who live in apartments and those who live in single family homes. Many students were affected the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey last fall.

My Project

I am asking for a 30 gallon river ecosystem and the plants and animals that live there. The living ecosystem in the science lab will serve as the project focus for 4th and 5th graders who will be using science and engineering to create their own ecosystems to sustain plants and animals.

Using existing technology on campus, students will use the river ecosystem as the inspiration for their year long engineering project to create another viable ecosystem for these plants and animals.

Students will have to use science, technology, engineering, art and math in various ways to create their final project.
