My Students

Our school is a federal childcare program that serves 120 children from low income families in our community. We help children that are at a disadvantage get ready for kindergarten.

Many of our children's needs are barely being met at home.

It is my job to create a loving, stable environment in which these children can safely learn and grow. I want to provide my children with the knowledge and skills they need to become successful students.

Despite the many challenges these children face, they come to school everyday full of life and ready to learn. I want my children to have a positive preschool experience. We are the foundation for their future education.

My Project

The use of cooking is almost a daily activity in my classroom. The children love to take food orders and the pretend and play market will help make these interactions more like real life. Children like to imitate the things they see their parents do and this will really help. This will provide an easy place for them to share and help the kids use their imagination as well. When the children go to the store with their parents they will be getting ideas to the next days play at school. The cash register will help the children learn and recognize numbers.
