Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How can underprivileged students do well inside the classroom?
Students can do well inside the classroom by having the simple necessary tools to complete their daily work activities.
The majority of our students come from low-income families, and their resources are extremely limited. Therefore, we must provide these special tools to enhance their learning on a daily basis. More than 80% of our students will come to school without fulfilling their whole school supply list. It is important as teachers to make sure that our students have the tools necessary to reach their dreams. Financial needs should not get in their way of academic excellence.
My Project
Every student deserves to get recognized. This year I have over 80 students who came into my math class with low self-esteem. After the course of several weeks, they have learned how to be more responsible for their learning and they have taken off! The students have seen that hard work pays off and their scores are increasing daily!
Each student deserves to be recognized for their outstanding efforts inside the classroom!
We have been in our new building going on 2 years, and we only have 2 very small boards to hang up student work and display important class/graduation info for my 8th graders. When a student sees his or her work proudly on display, this pushes them to get their work on the board time and time again. I love their increase in confidence and I am excited to see what is in store for them!
