My students need educational reading and math games to engage them in fun learning experiences . The dry erase board will give them an opportunity to write and build words in addition to the games!
My kindergarten kiddos walk into our classroom every single day excited to learn and interact with their buddies and our room itself. They are ready to collaborate, build, explore, question, develop, and engage in the materials and environment around them. Our classroom is student-led and student-created. Young minds need engaging materials to work with and an engaging environment to grow in. They love to learn the big impact they have had in our classroom so far this year in kindergarten.
My Project
3-2-1 Go! You roll the dice...2 and 5. If you put them together you get...7. The answer is 7! Yes! You found the right answer! You get to move ahead 7 spaces. This game is awesome! Hey wait a minute...I think I just learned that 2 + 5 = 7.
Would you rather play a math game or listen to someone rattle off math facts?
I know what I would choose--games! My students would choose that too if they could! I am a second year kindergarten teacher who has quickly learned that kindergarteners needs to be engaged in order to learn. I can give them math problems to solve, but they don't really learn until they are having fun too. With the addition of reading and math games to our room, my students would have more exciting opportunities to read sight words and solve problems and learn letter sounds and remember math facts. The games would be put into reading and math stations for small groups to use each day after the reading and math lessons. My students also need a place to store their games. Included in the supply list for this project is a shelving unit to help keep the games safe and organized. The final item on the supply list is a dry erase board. This would be used to practice writing and building sight words, to write out number sentences, to hold big books as students are reading, and to draw out design plans for projects. All of these materials, the games, the storage unit, and the dry erase board, would greatly enhance my students' learning.
