Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of life and excitement when they enter the classroom. No matter their obstacle my students work hard every day and have a love for learning. They are always ready to try new things and build upon what they were taught. Many of my students are English Language Learners that are learning English as a second or third language. My students come into 3rd grade at various reading levels, some as low as kindergarten.
Each one of my students is unique and special in their own way.
My students' backgrounds and abilities vary. They are all from inner-city Philadelphia, which is one of the poorest congressional districts in PA and second poorest in the United States. Not only has our school taken steps to improve the growth of each student, regardless of their background, but with the help of my students, I can help them get the individual hands-on learning that they each deserve.
My Project
Headphones are a much-needed item in the classroom! Many of my students are on the computer at varies times of the day. The headphones will help my students with activities like Coding, Lexia, and Academy of Math. There are so many instructional videos and coding challenges that require sound. However they mute or turn the volume so low, so they won't disrupt the other groups around them. With these headphones, my students will get the auditory learning and see and hear their projects come to life on screen.
With Snap Circuits, I can fuel my students' interests with limitless electrical experiments to engage them in STEM.
These kits will provide endless opportunities for hands-on learning during my science block. I have many kinesthetic and gifted learners that would benefit from these kits. My students will be introduced to the basic properties of electricity and electronics. Most importantly my students will learn teamwork and how to communicate with others to help build a working light bulb, spinning motor, and even a siren!
