My students need an iPad to use with our square cash register for emulating material purchasing in our industrial makerspace shop.
My students walk in ready to deliver and take on the tasks of the class. When they are all here, I can confidently say, "All of my favorite students are here today," as they boast about who, if any, is the actual favorite.
I teach at a K-12 school where students readily accept one another as they are.
Their camaraderie impresses me daily and allows us to dive deep into authentic learning experiences. My students' exposure to opportunities is limited in our distant, rural setting. As a result, the students love novel, new information, and are filled with curiosity.
We recently received a point-of-sale system seen commonly at a farmers market. It is mobile, user-friendly, and compatible with an iPad, which we don't have. It is also compatible with gift and credit cards.
Students will use "money," simulated with gift cards, to manage the costs of their projects.
They will price and sell the project. The profits they make from their projects will go back to the shop, into another project, or a charity of their choosing.
Having a real-world, fully functional cash register will provide students with a level of reality in managing projects in our shop. It will open the door to entrepreneurship skills.
We're so close to offering this valuable experience. Help us seal the deal by supporting the purchase of this iPad.
