My students are diverse and love our class community. We are in a Title I school, so many of my students have economic and environmental challenges that can affect their learning. I work very hard to ensure that they have a loving, safe, and exciting school experience.
I want them to love coming to school and never feel like they missed out on an opportunity to be successful.
Budget cuts throughout education have been extremely detrimental for our students. We have the funding to provide most of the basics but it can be a constant struggle.
Without the help from generous donors, like yourself, I would not be able to provide the quality of education that I received as a child for my students.
My Project
The expectation in school is that students should be able to sit still for extended periods of time and remain quiet as they learn. Any teacher will tell you that this is a physical impossibility.
Studies show that children who are more active exhibit better focus, faster cognitive processing, and more successful memory retention than kids who spend the day sitting still.
A student's ability to concentrate is one of the best predictors of success. While it can be difficult to find many opportunities for students to move and wiggle in class, the Wobble Chairs allow for them to do just that, while learning. The stools have a slightly rounded bottom so the students can move around and engage their legs and core.
