This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a great group of kids. They are 9th graders with Autism and other developmental disabilities or special learning needs. They need more than a teacher who tells them what to do; they need an adult who will listen to them and work with them on their individual needs.
In the words of Temple Grandin, "Kids have to be exposed to different things in order to develop.
A child’s not going to find out he likes to play a musical instrument if you never exposed him to it."
My classroom assistant and I create a positive and interactive learning environment where our kids know that they are welcome, they are loved, they are appreciated, they are safe and they can succeed.
My Project
My students have a mental or other disability and benefit greatly from seeing their materials presented in more than one way. I often present the lesson via a PowerPoint on the board while helping students one-on-one.
This presenter will help me to be with my students while presenting on the board.
We would be able to use this presenter to simply advance a PowerPoint, click on links, etcetera without having to walk back to the laptop to do all these things. I would be able to help my students and keep the flow of the lesson going.
