My students’ learning is the most important thing to me. I want them to get better and and show growth every year! These kiddos are so sweet and they try their hardest on their own, in small groups with me, and on their tests.
My students come with so many different experiences.
I want to grow our classroom library, especially in historic fiction. I have students that need help finding great books. My favorite genre is historic fiction. I want to get students interested in a time in history with a great story, so they want to learn more about the time the story was set in!
I am looking to get splitters and CD players to match the books we have in class, so students can listen and read at the same time. I will use the Listening Centers to allow a group of students to listen to the book CD. Our students are in love with the library's books and paired read alouds, even in fifth grade. I wanted to see why the students loved these and they made me fall in love with books on tape. I wish that I knew about them when I was a student.
Students who struggle to read, do not want to read, and this will take the hard part out of reading.
We do a huge unit at the end of the year on historical fiction and I want the students to leave wanting to read more. Even if that means listening to books on tape. I really feel like this is a win win situation!
As we build our student libraries, I am sure we can add more cd's to our repertoire!
