Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low-income families. Most of them receive free or reduced-price lunch. Some of them do not have enough money to buy school supplies. Some of them need to walk to school because they do not have enough money for a bus.
Many of our students deal with different family issues that greatly impact their academic and behavioral performance.
My students experience parents getting divorced, a lack of parents, having a baby at their young age, being homeless, babysitting siblings, working to help out their parents, etc. Most of our students are Hispanic. I have a good number of students with special education needs as well as ELL students. Many of our students will be the first in their families to go to college.
My Project
Our classrooms can be super hot and very stuffy at times. Our air-conditioning system sometimes fails and our classroom just gets smelly-stuffy with no air movement. Just imagine 20-30 students in one medium size classroom with no air circulation...
Fans are so needed in our classroom to keep the air fresh and clean.
Please help us to breathe fresh air. Who wants to learn in a stuffy and smelly classroom? Students have a harder time learning and it is not a healthy environment to learn in.
We have only two small windows that we can open and if it's hot and/or humid outside, opening windows does not really help. Please be the one to help us!
