Help me give my students the opportunity to experience what a digital photography program can look like with tripods and lighting. Let's show the students that photography can be more than taking photos on their iPhones.
There are so many things I love about my students, but mostly I love that they are inquirers and want to learn and take action. I am lucky that I get to work with some of the very best young adults around! I may be a little biased though.
My students want to learn and I want to provide them with innovative, creative, positive experiences that not only help them gain skills, but opens them up to future possibilities.
My Project
Currently, we are a very minimal program. Even though we are a 1 cam for every 6/7 students, I know we can still have an engaging program... with a little help from some friends. I'd like students to learn manual camera functions, lighting techniques and some of the fun camera hacks that one can do to get professional photo results. Most importantly though, I want to build a fun and engaging digital photography program for my students. After talking with many photographers in the Metro-Detroit area this is the budget list of resources that I have put together to try to create an exciting experience that my students will remember. The hope is that they will be inspired and use their newfound knowledge in other areas of their life.
I'd like to show the students that there is more to photography than iPhone quick shots and preset filters.
I know photography equipment can be expensive. I am requesting funds for economical backdrops kits, gels, different lighting options, tripods and fun resources to get them different results.
The lighting equipment is the most costly. It's important that students understand different lighting arrangements paired with camera functions. The kits and gels will contribute to portrait and product photography. I'm hoping to use the loose transparencies to expose them to light painting and slow shutter speeds. The prisms, SunAngel balls, and fairy strings will be used to show them some different creative uses with some low budget materials. I plan to use other low budget materials from home to show them other techniques to get different results as well.
In addition to the physical photo taking, students will also learn photo-editing skills and photo management. They deserve a packed program! I'd like to give it to them! Thanks for considering/helping!
