My Students

My classroom consists of 20 wonderful and talented students! I am a 7th and 8th grade special education math teacher that teaches students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. Our school is a wonderful learning community, here to serve children of all needs and capabilities. The students in our school are amazing kids who face extreme challenges in and outside of the classroom due to high poverty.

We are a Title I public school located in Staten Island.

Our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We work hard to make our classroom a community and a family away from home. To make this happen, we have a variety of places in our classroom to learn in many different ways.

My Project

This year, my goal for my students has been to incorporate more and more hands on, fun activities that promote learning and exploration.

My students need a Cricut machine and accessories to creatively display their learning and knowledge.

The Cricut machine has endless possibilities for creating individualized and unique pieces for each of my students. Using this tool, students will have the opportunity to have any of their assignments or projects come to life! I think this will be a huge buy-in for some of my more resistant students who are not afraid to admit that Math is not their favorite subject. I can foresee that perspective quickly changing with the introduction of the Cricut machine !!
