Help me give my students watercolor paper and paint sets with brush pens, Kwik Stix paint sticks, oil based paint, fabric markers, tye die kits so we can FLY!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district; my students (special education, general education, and gifted students) are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with a creative and meaningful learning experience.
My students are a group of inquisitive and creative third graders who approach life and new concepts enthusiastically.
Due to the lack of materials and equipment, my students sometimes are not able to put their fabulous ideas into action. My goal is to help each student reach their potential for learning and to help them grow academically. Each child in my classroom is different, and it can be challenging to adjust my learning plan to fit every student. To achieve this goal, I would like to create a functional environment that meets the learning style of every student in my class. I want to provide a place that is safe, healthy and comfortable to work and learn in that makes each student look forward to coming to class every day.
My Project
Art is a medium that many people use to express themselves. For my students, self-expression is a daily challenge. However, when students do art in my classroom, their faces light up and we begin to FLY! I hope that by exposing them to different types of arts, they will begin to soar to new heights with their imagination and creativity. Art is particularly powerful when it allows students to communicate learning when they cannot express it through writing.
I want my students to spread their wings and FLY with ART Integration!
Art integration is our best “tool” for engaging, motivating, and inspiring my students, and, most importantly, keeping creativity alive. Soaring to new heights with new art resources in my classroom (hands-on or project-based learning using art materials) will make my students learn in ways that connect to prior knowledge and make their learning relevant to their lives through engagement.
