This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

It is amazing how much our students love physical activity and exercise! Unfortunately, opportunities for many of these same students are very limited outside the school setting as a result of a lack of high-quality resources and facilities in their neighborhoods.

Our school's Physical Education program has the wonderful opportunity to create an innovative, high-quality experience for our urban students to learn and appreciate the health benefits of physical activity.

The City of Indianapolis is thriving economically, but many of our families still face economic challenges with over 60% of our students receiving free lunches. New supplies and equipment are sure to bring excitement and energy into the learning environment.

My Project

Our after-school athletics program offers much in the way of opportunities for students to develop their skill and fitness levels. We offer basketball, volleyball, soccer, and running programs. Physical conditioning is important for many of these programs, especially those sports that require heart and lung endurance. Our athletes would benefit greatly from devices that provide real time information related to heart rate and activity levels.

We have a need for more Polar A370 Fitness Tracker Heart Rate Monitors so our athletes can measure intensity levels and monitor continuous feedback from their own heart.

These devises put a whole new perspective and excitement into sport as students strive to reach and maintain color coded intensity levels that help them achieve their training goals. Thank you for considering this opportunity to help our student-athletes reach their goals.
