My students need dry erase boards and markers to do our work in the library so that we do not use so much paper.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can you imagine the amount of paper we go through with over 550 students coming through the library each week? My students need to be able to share their ideas and practice library skills without us worrying about running out of paper.
My students love to read and come to the library each week.
They learn how to use the library effectively and develop research skills. They are enthusiastic and eager. We are a school with many students learning English and many students on free lunch, but neither of those things keep them from learning and being great students.
My Project
When we are practicing library and research skills, we consume a lot of paper. Our state has been hit hard with budget cuts so paper is at a premium. Using so much paper is hard on the environment as well. Our school recycles everything, but wouldn't it be great if we were able to reduce our consumption in addition to recycling?
Dry erase boards allow students to make corrections more quickly and easily. Erasing on our school's lined paper leaves unsightly marks, and students often end up with holes in their work. Having these individual boards would give students freedom to correct their mistakes more neatly which will instill more pride in their work.
Your support will allow us to use less paper and make our work easier.
This project will impact all 560 students at my school since every student comes through the library each week. Your impact won't stop there. The beauty of the dry erase boards is that they will be available for students year after year.
