I teach a Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities at an Early Childhood School in Texas.
My class has at-risk students based on income, English is their second language, or they have special needs. My students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Most of my students have Autism and Sensory Processing Disorders.
Being able to use furniture to lessen distractions can promote learning with students with Special Needs. Have you ever tried working while someone is singing? Someone tapping a pencil? Or a door that opens and closes multiple times? Imagine a student who is in school for the first time and trying to learn with other students and environmental noise creates a distraction. Having this wall will provide some sound and visual barrier to what is going on in other places in the room. When we have the attention and focus of our students, we can create a safe and fun learning environment.
