My classroom is made up of 20 third grade students that are eager to learn. My students come in every day with wide eyes and an open mind. We strive to be a discovery-based classroom and love to find answers to our many questions.
Our classroom is a place of discovery that is built on a foundation of curiosity and wonder.
Being part of a Title I school means that my students do not always have the opportunities that students in higher socio-economic classrooms have. Despite of this challenge, we are a group of caring, dedicated, and hard-working people that have built a community of love and kindness.
I am requesting a set of 20 soft blue light filters to use on the florescent lights in our classroom. Our school is over 40 years old and with that comes older light fixtures that use very bright florescent bulbs. We have tried many options like leaving the lights off and utilizing natural light and lamps, but have found that they are not quite enough light to reach the entire room.
The florescent lights are challenging for some of my students, and cause headaches and eye strain.
Other classrooms have found success with these filters which easily attach to the light fixtures. Some of my students see specialists in other classrooms where they have filters, and often ask if we can get them. I am so excited to get this project funded and welcome my kids back in August to a classroom with softer and more tranquil lighting.
