My 12 students are enrolled in a self-contained special education class at the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade level.
My students attend a Title I funded school in Brooklyn with a large English Language Learner population.
Our community is very diverse and many backgrounds and languages are represented in our school. Each year, many students enroll in our school after coming from their home country. Our school is the first place that many of these children visit upon coming to the United States. It is a wonderful place to learn because our school community recognizes the talents and abilities of every child and supports our newly immigrant population by providing supports for students and their families. The disabilities affecting my students range from speech impairment, language delays and learning disabilities.
My Project
I am requesting some supplies to help keep our classroom clean and healthy for my 12 students in my special education classroom. I am requesting Clorox disinfectant wipes to wipe away germs from hard surfaces after the school day. Germs always manage to find their way on our tables and in our boxes of supplies. I am also requesting hand and face wipes for students to wipe their hands when we can not get to the sink. We are also in need of a small and large broom and dust pan set as well as a vacuum.
Each day of school missed is a day that can not be made up.
We know that by maintaining healthy habits in our classroom, we can have less sick days and even more time to play and learn.
