Sight Singing Leopards! I teach 6th-8th Grade Choral music, and most of my students are from a high-need community.

We do not have textbooks to use for Chorus, so I am always looking for supplemental materials. Most of my students came to Chorus not knowing how to read music,and it is my desire to have lots of "sight singing Leopards" by the end of this school year!All of them have wonderful unchanged voices and they want to learn how to sing music at first sight. I want them to become independent music readers!

Each child needs to have a copy of the book entitled, Sing at First Sight - Foundations in Choral Sight-Singing by Andy Beck and published by Alfred Publishing Co., Inc. We will need 30 books to be shared by two 6th Grade Classes, as well as the 7th & 8th Grade classes. It is against the copyright law to make copies of the book, so each child will need to have access to a book. The book is a sequential sight-singing curriculum for all choirs. It contains six-units that introduce new music reading concepts, and it is most appropriate for choirs who have never read music before. It will help my students to become "Sight-Singing Leopards!"
