Help me give my students headphone for many of our computer learning programs including our monthly evaluations,as headphones would be highly beneficial to all of our students, especially those who are English learners!
My students are highly motivated and ready to learn. WES is one of the most diverse schools in the Greater St. Louis area. My students come from different backgrounds whether that be from different countries, different ethnicities, or different developmental stages. Because of the wide range of abilities in my wonderful classroom, I get to work with a lot of small groups to pinpoint my instruction. All of my students highly benefit from these small groups and participate with enthusiasm.
On any given day, I engage my students in whole-group lessons, group or partner work, and individual work time.
The students take great care in taking advantage of these times and absorbing as much as possible. I also believe in the idea that students need adequate break times. My students have grown to know and understand when it is appropriate to take a break and when it is instructional time. Depending on the student's need, they will choose to take between a five and ten-minute brain break. Once their break time is over, they begin their school work again.
I am so thrilled to be able to work with these amazing students and enrich their minds every single day.
My Project
Having a pair of headphones for all of my students would highly benefit their learning every single day. WES is a 1-2-1 school and I utilize computers throughout the day in all of my lessons. Often times, computer use involves long readings, videos, and research. Because of the vast range of learning abilities in my classroom, a lot of the students would benefit from having long readings read out loud to them. Students would also be able to watch educational videos during individual work time if headphones would be provided.
Headphones will also be used for my students that are English learners because they often need extra verbal clues when learning.
There is also an online program they use specifically designed for students that are learning English as a second language. I have seen the benefits of this program first hand and I am positive the benefits would be greater if the students were able to use it during independent work time.
