I have an active, caring, smart, and inquiring class of 25 students. My students come from a variety of socioeconomic levels and cultures. They work hard to make our classroom an inclusive environment where everyone is welcomed and treated with respect.
As an International Baccalaureate school, we teach our students how to become more globally minded through inquiry based learning.
Our students are encouraged to ask questions and seek out their own solutions.
Their inquisitive nature and eagerness to learn ensure that no two days in our classroom are the same.
We have a special reading station that allows us to listen to books being read by the authors themselves and other readers. The students love this station and it is always one of their favorites.
These books and compact discs will allow the students to choose a book and allow them to listen to it being read to them fluently.
Listening to a fluent reader allows the student to develop their own reading skills by providing examples of proper pronunciation of words, intonation, and reading expression. Following along with the reader in a book also helps develop reading comprehension skills.
