LEGOS Help to Build Excitement and Cooperative Learning!
Help me give my students the LEGO tools they need to develop 21st century skills, fine motor skills, work cooperatively together, and use their imagination to create things. When children are excited to learn the information sticks!
My students attend a low economic school. I spend a lot of my own money and time hunting down deals to help create a welcoming and encouraging environment that promotes a love for learning. There are just some things I can't afford!
I typically have a class size of about 22-24 students that are usually 5-6 year olds.
For half the class this is their first time in a classroom, so the environment needs to be calming, welcoming, and engaging. Students at this age need to be active and have lessons that engage them in learning. We spend a lot of time learning with use of manipulatives and in groups.
My Project
The Legos I've selected will help the children expand their imagination when using them. I’m hoping the Tunes Experiment, Animal Bingo, Fantasy figures, and Community figures legos will allow students to be creative while fine tuning their fine motor skills. Students have to work cooperatively together when using these! This allows them to develop the ability to communicate with others and work together despite their differences.
In Kindergarten we strive to motivate and actively engage the students in learning!
With the help of the Tubes Experiment Set and Animal Bingo Set Legos I can create lessons that require students to work together to build things. This helps in developing 21st century skills as well as math skills too! Using the Animal Bingo Legos to specifically build things pictured on the task cards allows students to use their counting, thinking, and analyzing skills to complete the given tasks. Impressively the children think they're playing, but actually they are learning and developing important life skills. The Fantasy Mini Figure Set and Community Figure Set, doors, windows, roof tiles, and wheel legos will help my students build a love of life long learning.
