Help me give my students options for creating with LEGO bricks. LEGOs provide an outlet for creating both visually and verbally through writing or telling about the creations.
Our students have such a love of building and creating. They enjoy the team building and sharing of resources and ideas involved with creating during maker time. Creating and designing with open idea materials gives all students a chance to be successful during the school day, plus it is fun! My students are from a low-income area, so access to many of the materials we use for creating is only available to them at school. Their families simply can't afford these materials at home.
Students learn many design concepts through maker/creation time in the library.
Working together allows the students to learn how to share, communicate their ideas and partner with other students on a project.
My Project
We are working to build the options of our maker section in the library. This allows all students in all grades to come into the library for fun, creative exploration. The LEGO section is always very popular, but we are limited now to just a few bricks. We would like to have more figures and building options, such as the doors, windows, wheels, etc to allow the students creativity to grow.
LEGOs in the library will provide a creative outlet for all levels of students in the school.
They will be a very popular choice for our maker section. LEGOs spur creativity which can be transferred into writing and storytelling.
