Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is the beginning of learning. My students come from a high poverty area and are second language learners. 100% students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many students get a bag for weekends to make sure they have food for when they are home. My students have very difficult challenges and may not have the support a teacher would hope they would have to be successful.
These challenges do not stop them from coming to school with a bright smile and an eagerness to learn something new.
In my classroom, students come to school with very limited language but that will not stop them from participating in learning. We have a community-based classroom where we help each other learn difficult concepts and we provide support for each others learning.
My Project
The materials I am requesting would allow me to introduce Robotics to my kindergarten students . My students would get to work on a new task using these different robotic options.
I chose the LEGO Education set because what student doesn't love to learn with LEGOs!
This set works great with technology which is crucial for kindergarten students to have as much experience with academically.
My job is to incorporate materials and activities for my students that will challenge their thinking. They will begin to work on these materials and will work together to solve the task of building machines
