Of the 60 plus students, I have several autistic and several with varying exceptional learning disabilities. My students are awesome - they are very unique in character. I spend probably more time with them than a lot of their parents. They love a challenge and are always willing to lend a hand. At the beginning of the year, I tell every one of them we are all one big family with lots of brother and sisters. These children look out for one another and are always there to help each other. I love my job and all my children as if they were my own. I let them know they can always come to me with anything and we can work out the problem whether good or bad - nothing is ever too bad not to tell me. I am their best friend.
Lego's is a good hand-eye coordination material for children of young ages to use.
We plan on working with these materials on developing the skills needed in order to help with their fine motor skills. My students love a challenge. Once they master their project they are so excited to tell their own story about their creation.
My Project
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
They will be able to make characters to represent themselves to live in the make-believe homes, castles or buildings in which they build.
Afterwards, they will have a great time explaining what they have built to the students and staff working with them. Children love to play make believe in their own special world as they see it.
The children will think with their little brains and use their hands to make their own special creation.
Some of the students in my program are young with varying personalities and social skills. The Legos will help to stimulate their little brains and help them with their coordination skills as well as social skills.
