I don't work at a Title I campus. My student population isn't economically or academically disadvantaged. I am very blessed to be on my current campus. However, I want to inspire my students to go beyond the subjects in school.
I want my students to imagine, create, explore and inspire themselves and their world.
I'm hoping to encourage my students to focus beyond math, reading and writing. I believe the my Lego wall will help my students step away from focusing on pure academics and see the library as a place for creativity.
With the increase in standardized testing, educators tend to overly focus on Reading and Math. My students feel the pressure to excel in the academics area at school and at home. I want to provide a space for my students to express their creative side.
My Legos and the library project will allow my students to create, build and design whatever their imaginations can dream.
These Lego starter plates will become a Lego wall in my library. Students can build, create and design. Not only will my students have creative freedom, but they will also work collaboratively with others since the entire school will have access to this wall.
