Help me give my students opportunity and experience to expand their learning in many different facets of learning through Legos. They will help with fine motor skills, reading, and math.
My students are an unique of blend of culture, abilities, and various incomes but it is also my special group of students to love for a year. The part of my job that I love the best is that my students are 5 years old. I get to create and share their first experiences of learning in school. My school is a small country school with a high poverty rate. A special feature to our school is having a high population of Amish. I usually get to teach, love, and train students from all different kinds of backgrounds. Several of my students come from difficult situations or rough backgrounds.
I am always looking for opportunities to broaden their horizons with unique learning experiences and equipment.
My students are eager, active learners that love to try to new activities and are very thankful for new opportunities. We are building a passion for the love to learn in life and how to become a wonderful citizen while doing it.
My Project
My kindergarten students will be able to greatly benefit from these Legos being a part of our classroom. They will be used across the curriculum from fine motor practice, to reading, to math, and then to free play/promoting creativity. The students love to use their hands so building to create sight words, addition/subtract problems, seasonal pictures that promote color and counting practice.
My idea behind using Legos is for students to be engaged in play while not realizing how much they are learning and practicing skills.
These legos will be a benefit to our class to use in some many ways while promoting creativity and academics with not always using modern day technology. This will be incredibly beneficial to my Amish population in my classroom and a way to differentiate learning the classroom among boys and girls.
